After School Program Description safe & nurturing after school care with purposeful curriculum & activities
The San Antonio Family Endeavors After
School Kare (ASK), provides after school
care for approximately 2000 elementary
aged children a year in 28 locations in
San Antonio. The ASK program is specifically
designed to enhance each child’s emotional,
intellectual, social, and physical development.
The ASK programs provide quality trained and screened staff who set up specialized
activity zones focusing on topic areas such as: Physical Education, Art, Music,
Reading, Drama, and Science, all in the context of play and recreation.
Manipulative & Table Game Zones: Gives children the opportunity
to expand eye-hand coordination and develop their problem solving skills.
Library Zone: Children can choose from a large selection of
bilingual and age appropriate books. ASK provides story time with flannel boards
and puppets.
Outdoor Zone: After being in a structured environment all day,
time is given to the children to release energy through organized games and free
play.
Art Zone: Art History and Fine Arts mediums are used to develop
weekly projects and encourage the children’s creativity.
Dramatic Zone: Props and costumes are provided so children can
explore their world through creative dramatics.
Science & Computer Zones: Students have access to hands-on
projects which stimulate their curiosity about life and nature. In an ever-changing
world of technology, ASK provides children with v-tech laptop computers
and hand-held games to promote fun while learning.
