About San Antonio Family Endeavors providing social services with integrity and ethical stewardship
San Antonio Family Endeavors, originally called
San Antonio Urban Council, and then later San
Antonio Urban Ministries (SAUM), is a private
non-profit agency founded by several inner-city
churches in late 1960’s. These churches
identified critical issues for those most at
risk in San Antonio, and then San Antonio Family
Endeavors developed programs to directly address
those needs.
Over the last 40 years San Antonio Family Endeavors
has been a catalyst for assisting and/or establishing
several local community programs. These
programs are the legacy and accomplishments
of San Antonio Family Endeavors and include
such agencies as: Habitat for Humanity-SA,
Roy Maas’ Youth Alternatives, Ella Austin Community
Center, Victoria Courts Childcare, SAMMinistries
Shelter, and the San Antonio Food Bank.
San Antonio Family Endeavors has a history
and strong belief in innovation and collaboration. This
includes current collaborations with key social
service organizations and school districts
such as:, Family Violence Prevention Center,
Haven for Hope, SAMMinistries, United
Way, Jump Start, Sunshine School for Deaf Children, City
